Poetry and Pie

On Friday, April 18, 2008, eighteen poetry and pie lovers shared favorite and original poems. The event was held at the Little Old Schoolhouse Restaurant in Trout Creek and sponsored by the Trout Creek Library Board. Many area poetry writers read from their own poetry and others read from both classic and modern works. Well- known poets Robert Frost, Robert Louis Stevenson, Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, and Billy Collins were among those read. All ages enjoyed listening and commenting on various themes presented. Themes included spring, tree frogs, dandelions,, the universe, the loss of loved ones, and new birth. It was was a nurturing evening that ended with a piece of cherry or rhubarb pie. The next Poetry Night will be held in the fall. Watch for information.
